Thomas George Macarthy of Wellington, was a Brewer who died in Wellington on 19 August 1912. You can learn more about him here.
The Thomas George Macarthy Trust was created by Mr Macarthy's will, was varied by two Acts of Parliament, and provides for so much of the income as the Board of Governors sees fit to be distributed among registered charitable or educational organisations operating in the old Wellington provincial district.
The following criteria applies
Thomas George Macarthy Trust makes grants to organisations within the Funding region who:
This may be through grantmaking that complements other funding sources or targets when alternative sources of funding are not available.
The Trust will not consider applications from individuals (directly or indirectly) or service clubs.
Applications from controlling bodies are preferred EG:The Toy Library Federation of New Zealand applies on behalf of Toy Libraries registered with the Federation in the Trusts Region. Applicants are expected to have made endeavours to raise funds independently, with any Government funding taken into consideration. Applications for religious purposes will be considered only when the organisation is providing a full and general secular education or a social service.
All registered Schools, Kindergartens, Playcentres, Kōhanga Reo, Plunkets and Pacific Island language groups in the funding region receive grants on an annual or biennial basis and do not need to submit an application.
It is important that all details on the application are concise and easy to read. Applications that are not completed in full will not be accepted.
Decisions relating to grant applications are made on the information provided in the application and other general enquiries. The Board of Governors may approve a grant subject to certain conditions in such circumstances, the funds will normally be held by the Trustee until the conditions have been met.

All grant applications are considered by the Board of Governors whose decisions are binding and are advised to all applicants by the 30th of November 2018.

Your login can be used for any Trust managed by Public Trust granting via SmartyGrants and can be used in future grant rounds.

Step 3: Complete your Expression of Interest/Application
