Kiley Family Memorial Trust
Secondary & Boarding Scholarships 2025
IMPORTANT: Please read information below to assist you in completing your application online.
Applicants should carefully consider the criteria and Terms and Conditions, which may be varied from time to time.
The Kiley Family Memorial Trust was established by John and Peter Kiley in August 2000 with the purpose of assisting students to meet their secondary education costs in New Zealand. Preference is given to students from less well-off backgrounds who would otherwise have difficulty paying their school fees and meeting other school costs.
Scholarships are awarded in two categories: Secondary Scholarships and Boarding Scholarships.
Applications for any field of study will be considered but further preference will be given to those students planning a career in agriculture related fields.
Those applicants planning to attend schools in the Taranaki/Whanganui area and those planning to attend Wellington-based Catholic schools may also be favoured.
General Terms and Conditions
Eligibility:
Scholarship Terms and Conditions
Terms and conditions may be varied from year to year by the Public Trust as Trustee.
How much funding is available:
Secondary Scholarships awarded will be for a minimum of $1,000 per annum.
Boarding Scholarships awarded will be for between $3,000 and $8,000 per annum. Fresh applications may be lodged annually thereafter for a maximum period of five years in total.
What can the Scholarships be used for: Scholarships must be applied towards your school fees at the students 2025 education provider, or if applicable boarding fees, stationery, uniforms or other expenses relating to the student's study. All expense claims must be specified and may not include personal items such as cell phones. It is the strong preference of the Public Trust as Trustee to have payments made to a provider rather than an individual.
How to apply: Complete the application form via Public Trust online Granting System ‘SmartyGrants’. A full application will require you to fill in the form and upload the required support documents. This includes providing education details, proposed place of schooling in 2026, financial information and supporting documents. You can save the form as you go and log back in at any time to complete and submit before 5pm on the closing date of 26 September 2025.
