Tertiary Scholarships 2021

IMPORTANT: Please read information below to assist you in completing your application online.

Due to the Covid-19 lock down an extension to the date which applications are to be submitted has been considered and changed to 5pm 19 September 2021. Any possible further changes to dates will be advised to applicants at a later date.

Applicants should carefully consider the criteria and Terms and Conditions, which may be varied from time to time.

The Kiley Family Memorial Trust was established in 2000 by brothers, Peter and John Kiley. The Scholarships are funded by revenue from a Taranaki dairy farm owned by the Kiley Family Memorial Trust.

The purpose of the tertiary scholarship is to assist students to pursue or continue with their tertiary studies in the field of agriculture or who have included agriculture in their field of study. Studies must be undertaken at a recognised NZ tertiary education provider.

Who is eligible: Students in their final year of secondary education to pursue their chosen degree the following year or students continuing with their tertiary studies. Preference is given to students from less well-off backgrounds who would otherwise have difficulty paying their fees and meeting other costs. Scholarships will be awarded to applicants at the discretion of the Trustee and Settlor.

How much funding is available:  A number of Scholarships will be awarded between $4,000 and $10,000. Fresh applications may be lodged annually thereafter for a maximum period of three years in total.

What can the Scholarships be used for: Scholarships must be applied towards your study fees at your chosen tertiary education provider, (including course fees and Halls of Residence fees) or other expenses relating to your study (including Student Loan, laptop, stationery, travel, books, study expenses, etc.). All expense claims must be specified and may not include personal items such as cell phones. It is the preference of the Trustee to have payments made to a provider rather than an individual.

The Scholarship is conditional on you being enrolled at the tertiary education provider in a course of study as outlined in your application.

How to apply: Complete the application form via Public Trust online Granting System ‘SmartyGrants’. A full application will require you to fill in the form and upload the required support documents. This includes providing academic details, proposed course of study, financial information and supporting documents. You can save the form as you go and log back in at any time to complete and submit before 5pm on the extended date of 19 September 2021.
