The Trusts mission statement: “To distribute widely to organisations that can directly apply funds to specific projects that provide humanitarian aid (assistance and relief) to women or older people”.
In order to be eligible to apply for funding in 2018 from the Trust your organisation needs to be:
Applications are only accepted from charitable organisations or other bodies (including schools, individuals, sports organisations and service clubs are not eligible to apply to the Trust and the Trust does not fund overseas projects.
Applications are to be submitted from the controlling body (National Office) where applicable. The Trustee will focus providing funding for one-off projects only that address specific issues and needs relative to the Trust’s Mission Statement.
Decisions relating to grant applications are made on the information provided in the application and other general enquiries. The Trustees may approve a grant subject to certain conditions in such circumstances, the Grant would normally be held by the Trustee until the conditions have been met.
For the purposes of the Helen Stewart Royle Charitable Trust the Trustee has defined the following:
Woman – A female adult aged over 20 - The age of adulthood is defined in the Age of Majority Act 1970 as attaining the age of 20.
Older People – Over the age of 65 - While there is no legislative support for what are “Old people”, they are commonly defined as those over the age of 65.
Assistance and Aid - An element of humanitarian aid (e.g. relief of poverty) rather than the other classes of charitable aid generally considered to be the advancement of education, religion, or other general community benefits.
It is important that all details on the application form are concise and easy to read. Application forms that are not completed in full will not be accepted.
All grant applications are considered by the Trustee whose decision is binding and will be advised to all applicants by 15th of December 2018.

Hint: you will need an email address to register. If your organisation has a ‘generic’ email (e.g. info@organisation.org) using this may allow other staff members to use the same login in future (as long as they know the password).
Your login can be used for any Trust managed by Public Trust granting via SmartyGrants and can be used in future grant rounds.

Step 3: Complete your Application
Note: Our preferred format for attachments is PDF, Excel, Word or JPG. Supporting materials cannot exceed 25MB in size, as files exceeding this will not upload.
Hint: Save your work regularly so it is not lost if you time out or lose your connection.
You can save your application at any stage and return to it later.

Step 4: Review and submit your Application
Note: Once you have submitted your application no further editing or uploading of supporting documents is possible.
Step 5: What happens next?
If you do not receive a confirmation email then your Application has not been successfully submitted (don’t forget to check your spam email folder when looking for the email).
