Applications are open to students who meet the following criteria and conditions.

Applicants must have attended one of the named Schools within the wider Wanganui region, being Cullinane College, St Dominic’s College, Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Tupoho, Te Kura o Kokohuia, Whanganui City College, Whanganui Collegiate School, Whanganui Girls College or Whanganui High School.
The programme of study must be in a recognised tertiary institution and the course must not be less than one year in duration.
The course of study must be in the field of farming, agriculture or horticulture through theory and/or practical experience.
