Trust Purpose
Please note this Trust has a very specific purpose set out in a High Court Order. The Trustee does not have discretion to deviate from this purpose. If your application does not fit within this purpose, it will be declined.
Please read the purpose on the Trust page here: The George Mitchell Charitable Trust. We strongly encourage you to contact the Trustee to discuss your application before applying. Because the funds can only be used for one purpose this application is different to the usual. We aren't asking you to propose a project to us, instead we ask you to demonstrate that you have clients in your care that meet the criteria for funding.
Applicants will be asked to indicate approximately how many women in their service meet the criteria each year and funds will be granted by the committee based on this. All funding is GST exclusive.
Any applications with the following circumstances will not be considered.
- Incomplete or late applications
- Retrospective funding
- Accountability requirements from prior years - any applicant who has received funding from the Trust in prior years that has not completed accountability requirements will not be considered. (Or who has not made alternate arrangements with the Trustee.)
- Applications from individuals, sports organisations and service clubs.
- Applications not based in or supporting people within the Canterbury region.
- Financial Statements that do not comply with the Reporting Standards set by DIA - Charities Services. You must attach the same completed financial statements you used with your latest Charities Filing return.
