Agricultural Scholarship Information
Under the Will of the late Miss Swadling, a share of the income from the estate is to be applied annually towards agricultural scholarships as per the clause in the Will below:
“The granting of scholarships or bursaries or other assistance to persons who wish to become farmers and who are under the age of twenty-one (21) years in order to enable them to obtain further education or training in the kinds of knowledge or skills which should be useful for them in farming pursuits and I declare that any such scholarships or bursaries may be tenable at such agricultural colleges or other suitable educational institutions or training farms as my trustee from time to time thinks fit and that it is my wish without imposing a binding trust that preference be given to persons ordinarily resident in the Taranaki Province.”
A committee was appointed under the Will to consider applications. The committee comprises of the Methodist Ministers for the time being at Hawera and Kaponga and Public Trust.

Terms and Conditions
The following are the terms and conditions are applicable to applications and may be varied from time to time by Public Trust as trustee of the Estate of Doris Elizabeth Geraldine Swadling.
Please complete the application form including all supporting information and submit it by 5pm on the 30TH of November 2017. Applications received after this date may be accepted at Public Trust’s discretion.
Applications for the Scholarship must have attached:
Applicants will be advised whether they have been successful or not by the end of January 2018 at the latest. Scholarships awarded will be paid direct to the tertiary provider on confirmation of the applicant’s enrollment at their respective educational institution or training farm.
Decisions made by the Committee in relation to any Scholarships are final and the Trustee may seek such information regarding the applicant as deemed necessary to assist the Committee in making a decision on any application.
If you have received a prior scholarship from the Estate
If you have received a scholarship from the estate previously, your application will be considered by the Committee based on a satisfactory performance by the applicant in the preceding year.
Applicants seeking continuation of a scholarship payment should apply in writing to Public Trust by the 30th of November. enclosing:
